SMTP Disclaimer implementation

Our organization would like to implement SMTP disclaimer on outgoing mail. Is there functionality in 6.01 to do this? If not and no third party software is to be purchased, can this be done on the R6 platform and how?

Thank you to anyone with constructive advice

Like David says, searching is a good idea.

But while you have my attention I will point out that, if you are using native MIME, any server side system to add a disclaimer block will not work.

Search this forum for posts by me about disclaimers - have written about this before.

Searching this forum (which is always an excellent idea) will give you a plethora of results - all very useful.

Basically, SMTP disclaimers are build into R6 only for iNotes clients. There are various work arounds/add-ons to produce a similar effect using the Notes client.

The best solution without 3rd party utilities is to modify the mail template. When a new memo is created, you can get the default body text to auto insert users name, telephone etc + e-mail disclaimer. If you want to insert disclaimer without users having the ability to remove or modify, then you will need a 3rd party solution.

The normal way was to modify mailbox.ntf but this only works with notes rich text (CD format) - if an e-mail reaches the mail.boxes in MIME format, no further processing is done by the router and therefore no disclaimer.

What Domino anti-virus software do you use? I think the latest version of norton and trend allow you to append disclaimer.

We use Norton Antivirus for Notes 3.1.0.78 This build in theory is supposed to have an SMTP disclaimer header and footer, I am not getting any luck with results.

Subject: Disclaimer application and AS/400

Tamir;

I checked out your solution - very elegantly presented and documented. The only problem is we are AS/400, and probably going LINUX.

I ended up going to shared field Disclaimer_Footer route inserted after the Body field to the Memo, Reply forms. The Reply with History form is still a vexing mystery I am working on. I hope I don’t have to resort to a computer subform. I hate monkeying around with the mail template too much.

Ahh…R7 and it’s configuration for the client can’t come too soon.

I don’t know about the rest of you but kudos to IBM and R 6.5.1. It is just incredible.
