So… forgive me if I’m filling in the wrong details…
You have an SMTP server accepting mail… you want to use your Notes client to retrieve the mail?
Just go into your local names.nsf - create an ACCOUNT, specify the proper account settings. There is an SMTP protocol (along with pop3, IMAP and some others) - that will ask you for a name for this account, the server name, user name/password… and away you go. The schedule for how often it runs is dictated by your replication settings.

Yes, there is a (local) SMTP server accepting mail. I have tried to connect to this server by creating an account (I have even tried with different account types: IMAP, pop, smtp). The name of the Mercury SMTP server is ‘localhost’ (of course the IP is 127.0.0.1)…and creating an account doesn’t solve the problem. Only by choosing an IMAP online account, it creates a IMAP database…but it cannot connect to localhost.
Probably it doesn’t work for local servers.
Thanks anyway, Bill, for your answer.

This is your workstation then? I guess I’m wondering if you have an IP address assigned… or if it’s a work station that picked up an IP address through DHCP… if you could try connecting to THAT IP instead of using localhost. Just a thought.
