SMTP - Cannot connect to any server

Hello,

I am unable to send or receive mail on our Domino server with SMTP. I am receiving these error messages (Debug_tcp_resolver=1).

cmd_SendTranPvdrMsg> MAPADDR domino.xxx-xx.com, DomainName

cmd_SendTranPvdrMsg> exit hEndp: 58DC0001h wMsg: 1002h iError = 0000h

TCPEndp_GetNameInfo> Exit Status 0012h

TCPEndp_Resolver> Exit status = 0h

cmd_SendTranPvdrMsg> exit hEndp: 58DC0001h wMsg: 1009h iError = 0000h

TCPEndp_Resolver> DN_EXPAND: Expand Domain Name: +ú

cmd_SendTranPvdrMsg> exit hEndp: 58DC0001h wMsg: 1009h iError = 0000h

TCPEndp_Resolver> DN_EXPAND: Expand Domain Name: úmtpgateway+ú+*

TCPEndp_Resolver> Exit status = 0h

cmd_SendTranPvdrMsg> exit hEndp: 58DC0001h wMsg: 1009h iError = 0000h

I noticed the funny characters that are returned instead of the proper domain/host name on the DN_EXPAND lines. Where can I fix that? When I do an nslookup in a command window from my domino server the ipaddress is returned. When I do a trace smtpgateway.yss-md.com from my domino server I get this instead.

trace smtpgateway.yss-md.com

I went ahead and added the registry entry for DNS as suggested by this post:

http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/55c38d716d632d9b8525689b005ba1c0/96d6c8b0f34060bb85256ef90060f417?OpenDocument

I also added the dnsserver= line in notes.ini as suggested by this post:

http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/55c38d716d632d9b8525689b005ba1c0/2a5c9f7b14d2098e85256e240064f587?OpenDocument

I have read all 91 docs for my search on smtp, error and dns and have tried the two items above that should have worked. I have also checked my firewall logs to ensure they are not blocking these connections - they are not.

So is this one of those doh! moments? Have I missed something terribly obvious? Or is this a stumper?

Thanks for responding,

Linda Ruiz
