SMTP attack!

Every 30 seconds, it seems some server is connecting to mine and trying to deliver a message to a bogus recipient (which changes every time and is never real - below for example it is “path76”)… the sample log entries below repeat every 30 seconds!

What the??? How do I stop this nonsense?

09/09/2008 01:44:53 AM SMTP Server: notes.myserver.com (127.0.0.1) disconnected. 0 message[s] received

09/09/2008 01:45:19 AM SMTP Server: notes.myserver.com (127.0.0.1) connected

09/09/2008 01:45:20 AM SMTP Server: Mail for path76@mydomain.com rejected for policy reasons. Recipient could not be found in the Domino Directory.

You HAVE stopped the attack. The message is rejected. But you already know that.

What, if anything, are you using for an anti-spam solution? If you want to stop the connection attempts from eating bandwidth, then your best bet is to sign your domain up with an outsourced anti-spam service like Postini.
