Hello,
Im having some troubles with smartupgrade.
I upgraded a domino 6.52 to 8.5 server on Iseries. I upgraded all mailfiles to the mail85.ntf template using the convert -u … command.
Now im at the stage where i want to upgrade the clients. We have a mix of 6.52 and 8.02 clients. I configured a smartupgrade base which is working perfectly for the 8.02 clients. Unfortunatly, the 6.52 clients wont upgrade (i launch it manually). Error message is the “no avalaible kit for your Release 6.5.2 client”. Kit configuration is:
Notes std / source = * / windows32 / French / Notes client only / destination version = Release 8.5 / Restart / On a shared network drive
I tried puting source = Release 6.5.2 with no luck.
I believe the problem is on the source check. Is there something special with French maybe ?
Thanks
Subject: I believe your issue is…
All Notes Clients prior to Release 8.0 (Release 7.x, Release 6.x) are considered Configuration: “Notes Basic” clients… You need a second Smart Upgrade Kit that is configured for them… You can still upgrade them to a Release 8.x Standard Configuration and that all depends on what Kit you point at on the Shared Drive or Attach
e.g.
Basics:
Kit description:
Test Kit
Enable this kit for use:
This Smart Upgrade kit can be used to update the following versions of Lotus Notes:
Configuration:
Source versions:
Release 6*
Release 7*
Operating system:
Windows/32
Localization:
English
Release 6.5.4/6.0.5 or previous?
Install Type:
After applying this kit, the client will be running this version of Lotus Notes:
Destination version:
Release 8.5
Restart Notes after update:

Subject: Source version
Good stuff here but a question. In the “Source versions:” field I have listed an * which should take care of all versions? Is it better to set it as “Release 7*” to cover all the versions?
I’m still running into “No available kit…” for some folks and not others. My kits are set to all.
But again the strangest thing is that some users will get the “No available kit…” when they do a manual request when clearly their version they are on warrant the upgrade.
I am using the SURunas.exe build.

Thank you very much

Does this work on multi-user installs?
