Smart Upgrade with Local Replicas

I have an environment which is setup to work from local replica. I can get the Smart Upgrade to work if I open the client initially from the server but it doesn’t seem to work either locally or when I enter the client locally and then open the mail file from the server.

That issue is fixed in 6.5.4. We are waiting to use Smart Upgrade until then because the majority of our population works off local replicas.
