Smart Upgrade - User Not Prompted

Afternoon all.

Im just setting up lotus smart upgrades for the first time and so far everything running smoothly except for the automatic prompting of smart upgrade.

If the user manualy check for an update via his notes client then he can update without issues, however users who simply wait are not prompted for the update at all.

What can i check / do to resolve this issue?

Thanks

Subject: Need to wait a day

You generally need to wait until the time/day specified in the notes.ini for the client to pull down new updates:

SU_DELAY_DAYS=0

SU_IN_PROGRESS=0

SU_NEXT_UPDATE=04/05/2010 09:37:59 PM

SU_FILE_CLEANUP=C:\Documents and Settings.…

SUT_NEXT_UPDATE=04/05/2010 09:37:59 PM

If you want to test, you can either pull updates down manually (as you’ve already done) or shut down the client, remove these INI parameters, and restart the client.

Subject: Smart Update Prompt

Actually, all you need to do is change the date about a day or two behind the current date in this line while the client is closed down SU_NEXT_UPDATE=04/05/2010 09:37:59 PM

My company never used smart update until I set it up for the v7 of notes. What I ended up doing is setting the smart upgrade tab on the Desktop Policy with the update version I wanted everyone to be at, and you get to pick a data that everyone should be at and if you want the server to nag anyone every hour who has not updated to the full version. (I found this feature invaluable as I had about 10 users that would never update) After turning on this feature they all updated the next day throughout the day.
