Smart Upgrade not going silent for me

Greetings,

I am testing Smart upgrade, trying to roll it out to a 7.0.1 machine. The Smart Upgrade is suppose to install silently and Sametime is suppose to be included in the install. When I start up the 7.0.1 machine, I get the notification for the upgrade. I proceed to upgrade and then am prompted by the Welcome screen waiting for the Next button to get pressed.

Since I am quite new to using Smart Upgrade, I would just like to make sure I am doing everything correctly.

Steps taken to roll out 8.0.1 via Smart Upgrade.

I have been reading that I need to modify the Deploy\Install.xml file to change the Sametime FeatureID required to “true”. I have done this.
I then used SURunas.exe to package up the extracted files into one executable file and place the file in my Smart Upgrade Database.
I added some Optional arguments according to another thread so the install would be silent and install Sametime to the Smart Upgrade Kit.

The arguments I added are as such:

-d -s -a /s /v"SELECTINSTALLFEATURES=SametimeUI,Editors,Feedreader /qb+!"

Can someone point out where I am going wrong? My goal is to have the install silent and to have Integrated Sametime installed.

Subject: Smart Upgrade

If you have the optional arguments in your surunas.exe you do not need to add them to the smart upgrade kit. Check the step by step doc in the following technote:

You may need to add the ALLUSERS=1 to your optional arguments line.

Subject: Added Arguments to the SuRunas executable, now what’s happening is…

Thanks for the reply Jana. I have added the arguments to the SURunas package and tried it out. On the client computer it says there’s an upgrade available. I proceed to upgrade the client and it goes through the install. The strange part is that when it finishes, Lotus Notes 7.0.1 is installed. I verified that the files that I packaged up are in fact the 8.0.1 files.
I am in the process of creating a new SURunas package with the ALLUSERS=1 included in the argument.

Just so I have the arguments correct, is this how it goes?

-d -s -a /s /v"ALLUSERS=1 SELECTINSTALLFEATURES=SametimeUI,Editors,Feedreader /qb+!"

Subject: Smart upgrade silent parameters

The silent parameters look good. Instead of extracting the webkit executable and adding the files to the surunas, try attaching the webkit (.exe you downloaded from passport advantage) directly to the surunas.

Subject: Smart Upgrade is rolling out but…

Thanks for your help Jana. It seems that this is working as users are getting the notification. When looking at the log files for these users the Final status is saying Cancelled. I have seen this happen too. The upgrade is performed and says it was upgraded successfully. When the user click ok, it says setup has been cancelled. The user can click on the Lotus Notes 8 icon and it works fine.

Can you think of why the user would be getting this?
