Smart Upgrade Issue (AKA - General Policy Frustration)

Ok, so I’m trying this out and I have only one desktop setting with the “Deploy Version” selected and it’s applied to only one explicit policy which only 4 users have assigned to them. We are at various versions from 6.0 - 6.0.2CF1 so I selected * as the Source Version. This should work, right?

Yes, it works all too well. It seems like the rest of the company got the notification!

These Lotus policies have been quirky since day 1. Don’t get me started on password synchronization.

You don’t have to use policies with SmartUpgrade. You can specify users you want to upgrade in the “Allowed Users” field in the Smart Upgrade database.

So if it was blank then it would allow all users to use it?

Yes. The Policy document only acts like a filter for those users for some settings. Put your four test users names in the “Allowed Users” field in the Smart Upgrade document. Then they will be the only ones prompted to upgrade (assuming all the Smart Upgrade settings are correct

Thank you. After your post yesterday I tested with the “Allowed Users” field completed and this is working well.

Thanks!
