We have started upgrading Windows xp Notes clients from R7.0.2 or R7.0.4 to Notes 8.5.2 but run into some issues to update clients using Smart Upgrade.
Smart upgrade triggers fine but after the previous Notes version has been removed you get the error:
“Could not copy file: (2)the system cannot find the file specified. old Path: C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\install.xml, new path: C:\lotus\notes\framework\rcp\deploy\install.xml”
I can’t find any info on related errors. I use the SURunas workaround but this should be no issue.
how to solve this problem and have any good idea?

Subject: Win 7
This is a Win7 related problem. The install.xml file is written to the users folder (e.g. c:\users\administrator), but when the install attempts to copy it from there to the Notes installation folder, it tries to access it as c:\documents and settings\administrator and fails.
You can change the location in the ‘setup properties’ section of InstallShieldTuner to point to correct folder in the ‘usrManifestLocation’ Property.
Subject: Make sure you are including all the subdirectories.
The Notes 8.x install kit has subdirectories that are required to be included in the SURunAs generated executable. Make sure you are selecting them in the SUSetRunAsWizard.
Also you can post the LotusInstall.log file and the LotusNotesInstallLog.cab file from the installing users “My Documents” directory .

I have exactly the same error message using the install shield to perform a new install for 8.5.3. Does anybody have any ideas why this should be happening.
