Yes, the Standard version of any 8.x install is slower compared to any 7.x release. The Basic version of a 8.x release, in my experience, is about the same as a 7.x release.
If you’re running the standard version you can always switch to the basic by putting UseBasicNotes=1 in your notes.ini

@Dave, there have been many comments about client performance. Generally, the eclipse framework, with its 12000+ small files, will be slower. However, I have found that if I check the following, I do not notice a performance decrease on my machine:- Defrag the drive, this really helps and should be done anyway.

Anti-virus exclusion for the lotus\notes directory and at least as a minimum, the “framework” sub directory.

2Gb RAM does help if you are also running other apps. 1Gb I found fine if I only used notes and little else.

Try 852, I really do not have performance issues and run the client on a VM.
