Slow to establish connection after short inactivity

Dear all,

I’ve been bothered by this issue since getting a new laptop.

Whenever I’m trying to reconnect to the mail server or application server after 2-3 minutes of inactivity, Lotus Notes client is very slow to establish a connection. However, there is no issue on mail and application performance after the connection has been established, as long as I keep accessing server.

I’ve searched the forums for the solutions and found none applicable. Notes debug console shows whenever the client try to reconnect to server.

I don’t know what’s the next step I should take. Can anyone help?

The followings are some of the details:

Lotus Notes Client: 7.0.2

Mail and Apps Server: 7.0.0

Laptop LAN NIC and wireless NIC: both Intel-based

(The symptom occurs on both LAN and wireless)

Hi,

it’s not R7 but it’s similar,

Notes 6.x inbox is slow to refresh (often after a period of inactivity)

Subject: [FIXED] Slow to establish connection after short inactivity

I’ve finally found out the cause! Apparently, the laptop that I’m using is pre-installed with Checkpoint VPN client. To release the memory resources used by the software, I’ve disabled the services associated with the software. As a result, the network connection behaves strangely thereafter.

After I’ve enabled the CheckPoint services, accessing to Lotus Notes server is no longer an issue even after long inactivity.
