Silly request for a change we all want and never ask for

I just had a user ask me to change the color of the little blue indicator that tells people that the view needs to be refreshed.

The application we have is designed using a nice shade of burgundy and the users all feel that the blue clashes with it too much.

I know we have all had people ask about this but I have yet to ever see anyone ever post a request or even ask for it here.

Anyone else ever think about this?

go to a local install of notesfollow the path:

…\lotus\notes\data\domino\icons

locate the icon name: actn022.gif

copy it to photoshop

change the color scheme

copy it back in

your icon will now be the new color

That is well and good, but how do you replace the icon in just the application?

I think it would be nice to be able to do this and the more I think about it, the more I think I want this option. Of course it could just be that today is my last day of work before the holiday and I have nothing better to do than come up with these kinds of ideas.

Roy,

on LotusC in the past, I think we would have suggested burgundy tinted glasses. Trust you are well … Kind regards … John

Things are good old friend. I was just feeling silly today and when a user asked for that change, I thought I would post it out there and see if anyone bit on it.

Hmm… never thought of it. However, your best bet if you want new functionality added to the client is to post something about it on Mary Beth Raven’s blog. Make a good case for it, and maybe you will pick up support from other people who read it and say “hey, I’d like that”. Then, if the stars align, and MB is convinced, it could be built into a later version of the product, or even make it into R8.
