Silent Install + Mail-In Db

I am trying to create a silent install using the Installshield Tuner found on the Notes 7 CD. In addition to running the silent install, I need a Db to track who has upgraded. Any thoughts here? The only negative re: a button is that users are likely not to click the button! Thoughts turn to postopen in the mail Db but I’d need to be able to validate client version (if 7.0.2 abort or continue) + send the group to the respective shared drives (maybe based on groups). Any creative ideas?

I really don’t need any additional options… can’t I just launch \host\installs\Setup.exe /s /v"/qb+" from a button or postopen? I would like to combine this with an email to mail-in Db. Does this sound feasible or am I missing switches. Maybe something like this… @Command( [Execute]; “\host\installs\Setup.exe /s /v”/qb+“” )… think the switches would have to be outside quotes. Hmmm…

Why don’t you make some use of Notes Smart Upgrade ? (see Admin Help)

To track the upgraded clients :

  • you have a policy that upgrade mailbox design at the same time, then you see on the server which mailboxes are upgraded

  • the person doc shows the OS/machine name/notes client version, in the last tab

Thanks for your response… unfortunately, Smart Upgrade will not work. I failed to include that the upgrades are for R5.x clients (cannot support SU feature). The most important part of the posting… not certain how I missed including this.
