Silent client installation

I am trying to install a Notes 7.0.1 Client with a silent installation. In former Versions I remember the setup switch -r. The switch allows me to create a response file for the silent installation.

In Notes 7.0.1 there is not a switch like -r to create a response file. There is only the IS Tuner for Notes and with this tool I am not able to create a silent installation. When I start the modified setup.exe the client will always ask for the license agreement.

Can somebody explain me how to create a response file for a silent client setup in Notes 7.0.1?

Thanks Henning

A true “silent install” is a series of configurations. Two are mandatory for a working silent install, while the others are optional, but highly desireable.

configuration1:

You create the “response file” via a custom MST file. This is accomplished by using the Install Shield Tuner for Lotus Notes, configuring your preferred install parameters and saving the configuration out to a .MST file.

configuration2:

at that point, you then tell msiexec.exe [windows installer] to call the MST and execute an unattended silent installation of the Notes client. This is accomplished by use of specific command line arguments.

configuration3: [optional]

you can use the years old “upgrade by mail” function found in the Domino Directory to push out silent installs.

configuration4: [optional]

another option is use of the native Notes Domino Smart Upgrade function, making for a thoroughly professional upgrade effort without having to leave your desktop.

configuration5: [optional]

And last but not least, don’t forget the little known “seamless upgrade”. This feature will automatically upgrade the design elements of the user’s mail database so you do not have to backtrack and re-visit this work effort.

Good luck with your silent install efforts.
