I used one of the Beta versions a while back and there was a side panel where you could dock the IM contact list. I now have the live version and can’t see how to do this.
Is this functionality in Notes client 8.1? How do I show the side panel or dock the IM window?

In notes hover your mouse over the minimize and maximize and menu icons for sametime. One will say right click for menu options. Then click on Open in New Window. Then you will have a movable and dockable sametime contact list.

Hi Jeff - I’m as software developer and generally do my own installs but I took the advice of my desktop support guys who said to point my Quick Launch shortcut to nlnotes.exe rather than notes.exe because notes.exe starts up horribly slowly and has a heavier footprint. When I start with notes.exe I see the additional functionality. Looks like nlnotes.exe is the really basic client stuff running inside the window of notes.exe which has all the neat stuff.
For the general user they’re probably right to suggest nlnotes, but I’m not the general user.
