Hello Marcus,

My supervisor is terrified of accidential design refreshes

If so then you really need to educate your supervisor.

The design task should be removed out of the ini file… (I know its there by default… doesn’t mean it should be) and added to the server as a program. This gives much more flexibility in scheduling.

However, you should still run Design IMHO at least once a week. This will cut down on design element corruption in your databases.

I like to do this on Sunday night around 11pm.

As for accidentally refreshing a database… I have to ask, How many errant templates you have on your server and how many databases affected. Design updates should not be done on a production machine ever… but if they are atleast enforce template naming schemes that will ensure you don’t ever update the wrong db.

Really though, you should control who can create templates and have some minimal QA process before putting changes on a production machine.

Good Luck

Mark

Remove the Design task from the Notes.ini file on the server, or remove any program documents that may be used for the task.
