Showtime: Blackberry Enterprise Server Push Utility for the Lotus Notes Client - Release v0.1

For those of you looking to get more out of your BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) Environment and Blackberry Devices, I urge you to check out this new freeware app I’ve just posted:

“Showtime, my Blackberry Enterprise Server Push Utility for the Lotus Notes Client, allows you to create Jobs for individual Channel, Message, and Browser Content Pushes, as well as allows you to delete Pushed Channel Icons from defined recipient devices.”

Here you’ll see a quick demo/tutorial on the application, as well be able to download the ZIP file containing the Lotus Notes Client Application. No sign-up, no “free-but-there’s-a-catch”, but honestly free. I needed an application that did this, and didn’t want to use the BES-provided .Net or Java applications… so I wrote this simple Lotus Notes Client Utility that uses the BES Push API.

Showtime uses Java Agents to create HTTP Posts (with custom headers) to your BES Server’s PUSH engine, allowing you to create and delete WAP icons on Blackberry devices, send “Push Messages”, which are “special” messages in the recipient Inbox that launch a defined URL in the device’s WAP browser.

So, whether you’re running a BES shop and want to get more out of it, or you find yourself wanting to look at how I got Java Agents to create customer header HTTP Post requests, check it out!

HTH,

-Chris
