Hello all, this is my first post. I am trying to share a Notes 6.5.4 client address book. I gave 2 people in the Domino Directory Editor permission to the database and then copied the file via the Windows Explorer to a shared folder. I then went to each pc and did the usual File → Database → Open and bookmarked the names.nsf. But when trying to use groups from the contacts portion the mail messages bounce back with a Non-Delivery. Is the best thing to do to create a replica of the database on that shared folder and then open it from the other 2 clients once the permissions have been verified? Thank You in advance

Two clients can not simultaneously open the same NSF in a shared folder. Notes will not allow it. If you need to share data, you need to keep a replica of the address book on the Domino server, and have each client make a local replica of it.

Best practice would be to create a local replica of the address book on your server in an alternate directory, like Address\sharedPAB.nsf. Then replace the local replicas of the NAMES.NSF on each PC with a copy from the server. Fire up Lotus Notes and force a manual replication of the local names.nsf with your server copy. Ensure that scheduled replication has been enabled on the PC. This way each user has their own replica and you will not have any sharing violations. Make sure any groups you contain have members that are either in the local address book or are pulled from the Public address book. Your local Notes client must be able to resolve the groups into names before the message is delivered.
Hope this helps.
