Shared Memory detected after crash

Dear Friends,

Even after upgrading my Lotus Notes 8.5 client with Fix Pack 1, I continue to face intermittent crashes.

These crashes often occur in the wake of switching from one ID to the next.

Whenever I try to restart Lotus Notes client after each crash, the following error message dialog box is presented:

“Shared Memory from a previous Notes/Domino run has been detected, this process will exit now”

Curiously enough, this error dialog is displayed even when I have killed all relevant Lotus process using the Task Manager.

The client functions smoothly once again when the PC is restarted.

What I have tried to do is the following:

  1. Tried the command “nsd -kill” in the lotus directory.

  2. This has resulted in the following message being generated:

"WARNING (0): failed to kill all Notes processes

ERROR (0): can’t kill process NCDaemon(024c) - (5) Access is denied."

  1. Based on the following thread, I removed Debugger users:

That has not helped much too.

I am now fresh out of ideas. Looking forward to your suggestions and kind assistance.

Thanks for your help. This is certainly useful - the link that you gave.

I am working on this issue now. Will post my findings here.

Subject: Scanner errors occur when launching Notes after McAfee upgrade

Dear All,

I made a note of the instructions posted on this thread:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?fdoc=wplcnote&rs=475&uid=swg21180665

Accordingly, I incorporated the following changes in the notes.ini file:

;AddInMenus=NCMenu

;EXTMGR_ADDINS=NCExtMgr

Incidentally, these lines are not commented out, nor a new copy of notes.ini produced when Lotus Notes Client is restarted.

This, I found, was in contrast to the instructions posted on the thread as mentioned above:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?fdoc=wplcnote&rs=475&uid=swg21180665

I have also made an attempt at attaching the screen shot of the task bar showing the processes in operation while Lotus Notes Client continues to run in the background.

I found it interesting to note that the process NCDaemon.exe was nowhere to be found running now.
