I have a shared column that was created by copying a column from a view. I then added the shared column to other views.
I made a change to the shared column formula but it is not updating to the other views. The ‘Column is Used By’ function does show the list of columns.
Is there something I need to do to update the shared columns to the views that use it? I thought it was automatic.
UPDATE: I upgraded to FP1 - no change. Also, if I edit the column’s color, that is updated to all the views but the new column formula is still not updated.
…because it’s not a problem I’m aware of. We definitely go update everything that’s a view that we can find – it should match the set of everything you can see in Designer.
I am late to this party, but could it be, that any change to the (shared) column formula, that leads to a change of the programmatic name, breaks the update? This would at least make some sense to me.
Yeah, the property window says “use caution when changing”, but that’s about all I find on this topic.
For sure you are aware of how this will usually go: A shared column starts its life with a simple field value, but get’s extended to use a formula later on. And whoops there goes your original programmatic name.
