Hi, What are the correct settings to properly backup the Domino DB’s and its transaction using the Lotus Notes Agent NA version BrightStor v9 from ARCServe? Currently we have the following scenario: Every night we run Full Backup with Clear Archive Bit, The Transaction Logs are set to Archive Mode. What really happens with the correct settings? The transaction logs are located in a separate HDD with a size of 40GB. Should the transaction logs grow till it hits 40GB’s and then reuse the old ones first? Or will it try to create more logs and then crash when it fails to do so becuase it ran out of space? Would the error Log is Full come up?

When you use archival transaction logging style, ArcServe does not support reuse or automatic deletion of backed up logs. That is something you have to do manually. You will crash if you do not clear out the logs.
Personally we are about fed up with the lack of support from Arcserve due to months of ongoing problems and are considering switching to a new backup vendor!

I know that NetBackup from Veritas handles this issue with archive style transaction logs automatically.

We are having issues with our backup software;NetBackup from Veritas.
When we try to perform Point In Time restores we get less than the complete backup we expect. Some updates and even some files will be missing. Either we can only pull files from full backups or we can select files from the last recorded date in the transaction logs. What do we do for our backup system and transactional logging to give us full Point In Time functionality.
