I hope some one has come across this issue & can give me a solution.
We currently have 3 address books ( Personal / Domino Directory / Special Directory) in our environment, available for all users.
We now want to restrict access to the special dir to all users (Default no access).
Issue is if the users has last selected this in the address list when looking up an address, After the ACL change they get a error message “you are not authorized to access this database” (which is correct) but they are not allowed to select a different address book. the dialog box just closes down. the user is not able to change the address book to any other…
I believe we can avoid this by setting the personal address book as the default always… But how do I do that? or even if i can set the DD as the default that is fine…
Subject: suggestions
- Is the user getting this address book because it is set in their Preferences?File>Preferences>Mail>Sending and Receiving
(in Basic, File>User Preferences>Mail)
Local Address Books field
names.nsf (the local personal address book) should be the listed. Remove the address book the user doesn’t have access to, and delete the local replica.

Is the user getting access to this restricted address book via Directory Assistance? If so, be sure this is set up correctly. Refer to the Admin Help.

If all else fails, do not change the restrictions on this address book. Instead, move all the entries to a NEW address book, and only grant access to specific users.
Subject: Access via irectory Assistance
Hi Maria,
Thanks for the suggestions…
I have setup Directory Assistance & thus all directories are visible for the entire domain.
What we did was we have moved a set of users from our Corporate DD to a secondary Directory. We now want users in the secondary Dir not to have access to browse the Corp Directory.
So we have restricted access via the ACL.(No access)
That is when the problem occurs… so I need a way to always default the address book to the users personal directory, when the user brings up the address dialog box to search for a name.

Subject: add to ACL, limited access
The only thing I can think of is to add those people back into the ACL, but with only Depositor access , everything unchecked, and no roles assigned. This should not pop the access error, but also not allow them to browse the names. It won’t really give them depositor access, since the roles control who can create documents.
