Setting Default Date Format for Inotes users

Hello

Hopefully someone can help me,

We are moving from another email platform to lotus notes 8.5 using the 8.5 inotes client

I would like to set the default date format for all my users to be Day/Month/Year rather than Month/Day/Year

but I have been unable to find anywhere to set it

it would seem that the system should pick up the locale of the server

I am running 8.5 on Sles10 SP2 64 bit

the locale command returns the following

LANG=en_GB.UTF-8

LC_CTYPE=“en_GB.UTF-8”

LC_NUMERIC=“en_GB.UTF-8”

LC_TIME=“en_GB.UTF-8”

LC_COLLATE=“en_GB.UTF-8”

LC_MEASUREMENT=“en_GB.UTF-8”

LC_IDENTIFICATION=“en_GB.UTF-8”

LC_ALL=

I have also tried setting DateOrder=DMY in notes.ini but nothing seems to have any effect

I realise each user can set the format in their preferences but surely there is a system setting or do I need to set something else on the linux side

Subject: Script to Fix databases

It has got nothing to do with browser sessions and more to do with the mail database.

Here’s a link to a Technote with the necessary agent to fix this.

However, whilst this is fine for existing mail databases, I don’t know what the resolution is for newly created users. I don’t think it is possible to set this in the mail template.

Subject: Browser?

I think you might find that this controlled by a browser and/or client OS setting rather than the server setting.

You don’t say what browser you’re using, but I’ll assume it’s Firefox. If so, try checking how your Firefox Language is set. My guess is that it’s defaulting to the U.S., and hence you get MM/DD/YYYY for your dates.

Here’s some info on how change the setting for various browsers, although I’m not sure how up to date all this is:

Make sure you restart your browser after making the change.
