Server ver. is going to upgrade,Plz Suggest me

Hi Friends,

I have developed an application in R6.5 , currently it is running on live (R6.5 server),But now my server is going to upgrade (to R7.1).

Will this upgration affect my appplication. Plz suggest .

I agree with Craig, that you will never know for certain until you build your test server…BUT, I have upgraded 9 separate companies so far, from domino 5x, domino 6x and domino 6.5x and except for a change in how resources are handled between 5.x and 7.x, I have not had any problems with existing applications.

BUT, it is ALWAYS good practice to build a test server and have the right people work on the application to see if there are any problems.

No one here is going to be able to answer your question for certain. You need to test your application on a test server upgraded to the release you’re planning to upgrade to. That is the only way to be certain. Good luck!

Testing is obviously the only 100% way to be sure, however, I upgraded from 6.5.4 to 7.0.1 with no problems all my applications that ran correctly in 6.5.4 never missed a beat. Since about 4.5 I have never experienced any problems upgrading. I believe it was around that time that Lotus made a statement to the effect that if an upgrade broke an application they would consider that a bug in THEIR code.One of the major advantages of Notes Domino is that the upgrade path in recent years has been very painless. Not like M$ that the upgrade is R & R (Rip & Replace).
