Has anyone successfully rebuilt and restored Domino Server 8.0.1 and all of it’s data?Is it as simple as just restoring the “Data” folder after the install? We are working on a Disaster Recovery Plan, so I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks in advance!
Subject: Rebuilds/Upgrades
I’ve not rebuilt/restored/migrated 801, but I have done this with other Domino releases. There are some registry entries created on Domino install, so the ideal situation (other than bare metal backup/restore) is to install Domino server itself from scratch, then restore/copy the data folder. If you the install path to the data folder changes on restore or upgrade to new hardware, you’ll need to update the notes.ini file to reflect that change. I’ve migrated to new server hardware using this method. Keep in mind, as you are moving data, your source/target Domino servers must be offline or at least, unable to receive/send mail, so you should have a third server/service holding incoming mail.

By default the log.nsf is not restoring. When we launch the server it errors out.
