Server Process

Hi ,There is a database that contains documents with attachments and is hosted on a R5 server. There is a " server process" which is not documented which acts on the documents in the database , and saves the attached files in the documents in a specified folder in the Domino Server, and changes the status field value in the documents.

Any idea where such “server process” is defined …(in PAB, .ini or where ??).

There is no documentation , and this process has to be duplicated when the server is upgraded to R6.5.2

Hi,

Usually such behavior is due to a background agent. If you have sufficient rights, you can access them by right-clicking the database and selecting the menu “database/go to agents”.

Agents are part of the database, so if you change the database location, the agents will follow. As you are upgrading the server, everything should run fine.

By the way, those agents are run by a task called Agent Manager, which is a standard domino process (namgr.exe). There are configuration elements in the PAB that define how many instances of namgr will run. But this is all very well documented.

it is also possible the agents run from another database so you should try searching the server’s log.nsf to try and locate the agent(s) responsible for the process if you cannot locate them in the same database.
