I have had a wonderful week. First let me preface this by saying I am not an admin and have little knowledge in that area.
Last week on Tuesday we had a server crash. The server is still not up. To allow our users to get back up and running we decided to create new mailboxes on our db server. All mail that was queued up has been delivered.
My dilemma is that we created brand new mail for our users on our production db server with new repids.
We are restoring the data from our tape backup. I need to merge that data with the current running mail db’s. I know I can archive them manually, but I want to do it programmatically. I’ve got over 300 mail db’s to merge.
Any ideas? I need to retain folder structure.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help.

Diane,
To clarify, you have 300+ mail files which are brand new and have a week of mail in them, and you have the original 300+ mail files which need to be restored and merged with these new ones?
If it were me, I’d move the old ones back into place so that anyone with local replicas wouldn’t be sol. I’d move the new ones into a directory called NEWMAIL or something silly, just for a day until we’re done merging them.
I’d assume that the folders should be kept from the old ones, not from the new ones, although of course you could keep both.
I’d run an agent that would grab all the mail out of the new one and jam it into the old mail file, making the old mail files complete.
just my 2c,

Your correct in your clarification.
Thanks for the input, it’s something to think about. Putting the old repid’s back in place. The only issue is the users are currently using them.

Diane,
I think you/they will suffer no matter what. The damage has been done. At this point, the goal is to minimize damage for short and long term. I think restoring old rep ids is better unless you are very confident that no person/server has replicas of the mail files.
sorry, I know this is all a nightmare,
