Server migration

Hi,

I have a question regarding moving s domino server to a new physical machine.

We are going to set up a new server that is going to be in a new domain. (Not domino domain) We are going to keep the old IP-address, but change the fqdn of the server. The domino data is located on a network storage and will be pointed to the new server with the same path as on the old server.

My question is regarding moving the domino server on the new server.

I was thinking that since the domino data will be on the same path, the only thing I have to do is copy the notes.ini on to the new server and start the server…

I can’t think of anything else.

Is there something I have missed out ?

Comments ?

There is a TechNote that addresses this:

I think you are right. Domino runs on-top of the OS. If you leave the IP-address for the Domino server unchanged, make the directory=… parameter in the NOTES.INI file fit to the new server’s environment, everthing seems to be fine.

I have no experiences with web-services provided by Domino. Perhaps you have to consider something else for these services or protocols?

Hi Peter,

Thanks a lot for your response.

Then we have the same thoughts of this. I do not think this is a big job at all… Now it is just closing the server and do the job…
