Server Mail Rules and Low Priority

Hi

We want to be able to create a Server mail rule similar to how you can set up sending mail meeting a certain size range as Low Priority works.

Ideally we would like to say send mail between a certain size - say 10MB and 20MB as Low Priority (i.e. at 12 - 6AM) with the ability to add exceptions for certain Senders.

I have been able to hack the RulesDlg form and Rules Script Library in the Domino Directory to make this possible, and it correctly sets the DeliveryPriority field to “L” which marks the mail to be delivered late at night.

However, i am now stuck at the point where even though the mail is sitting in the mail.box and marked as Low priority - this does not trigger the Low Priority Notification back to the user telling them their mail will be delayed - even if i set it in the server config to send a notification for ALL low priority.

Also - I cant seem to find a field or anything to determine how the router keeps track of which emails it has sent a low priority notification about to fudge it either…

Any ideas?

Hi ,

You need to enable "Send all messages as low priority " field in Server’s config doc under Router/SMTP—> Restrictions and controls tab.

The administrator needs to check the server’s mail.box for low priority messages…

Hi Praveen

I understand how that works - however that is a blanket solution for ALL emails going through the server.

What i have done successfully so far is to add an extra “Action” to the server rules which marks the message as low priority based on a more flexible and complicated selection criteria than just email size - e.g. any of the conditions available in the Server Rules - like Sender, Subject, Importance, Domain etc.

The router is correctly marking the messages as Low priority and delivering them at night - just cant seem to get notifications sent to the user for these Low priority messages
