I posted this issue several weeks ago → After deleting a server mail rule, and entering Set Rules on the console, I tested it and found that the rule was still active. The Mail Rules tab displayed no rules, and the server had been rebooted since the deletion, but the rule was still active. → Solution: Stop the Domino server, delete mail.box, start the server. Mail.box will be re-created without the “phantom” rule.

I just wanted to add… on server or client be sure to disable the rule before deleting it. This seems to help as well.
