Server Hangs

Dear All,

In the last two weeks Domino server Hangs 3 times, at this time users were unable to access the applicaton. checked the Show tasks in the server console there we found …Database Server Perform housekeeping chores… (We found this all the 3 times)Is it the cause to hang the server? if so Is there any solution to resove this? Thanks in Advance…

Are you able to open a PMR with IBM? In our hangs we’ve submitted NSD files and setup semaphore debugging. The reasons for our hangs: corruption (that causes a semaphore lock or a unresolved hang), Single Copy Template issues, memory issues, full text index issues… the list goes on and on. We are on 6.5.3 and I am counting the minutes unti 6.5.4 is released…

I too am in the same boat and do have a PMR with IBM. Just sent some screen prints. Our corruption occurs during replication, we also noted that indexer task seemed to be related so we backed off the policy setting to Create replicas ready for searching. Still having problem. Will post if I get response from IBM. FYI Window Server 2000, SP4, Domino R 6.5.3.

Although I can not offer much assistance I thought I would share my issues.I have had an PMR open with IBM for 3 months regarding a server hang issue and still no where near resolution.

I have sent numerous debug files, logs, nsd’s and screenshots all to no avail. Now I am being told that it might be database corruption or maybe my log file is to big. Personally I don’t think IBM have a clue and are just waisting my time.

We have been having a server hang nearly every day and have found that it is when a compact task has run.

Unfortunately ND6.x has been so unreliable and unstable for us that there is serious talk of migrating to Exchange. IBM have always told us to upgrade every time we have an issue and now we have run out of releases to upgrade to.

The biggest joke was when I was discussing with my IBM engineer to check what I had already reported to her in email months back…yep you guessed it…she said that they were having a hang and had to call back!!!
