All:
In addition to running Lotus Domino 6.5.5, we have been given a hot fix 667 by a representative at Lotus who we paid to come here and talk to us about the servers, clustering, etc. It was installed when we upgraded the servers to 6.5.5 from 6.5.1.
A few weeks back, I clustered two mail servers at the company. Since then, we have been experiencing “server hangs” every 3-10 days. Everytime the server hangs and someone tries to access the server, they don’t automatically failover to the other mail server. If the server crashed, users would automatically failover. This is a statement from IBM. Needless to say, I would rather the server crash.
At any rate, when this server hangs, we look at all the processes and it does not show anything out of the ordinary. We call IBM and put in a PMR for each of these server hangs. Upper management has been asking why this is happening and I cannot offer much more than “we sent the logs to IBM for analysis.”
This past Monday, the server was hanging again. When we talked to IBM, they gave me a laundry list of things to check and asked me to do hourly memory dumps. One of the interesting things they asked was in regards to Chronos and full text indexing. I’ve searched on the term chronos on this board and found others seem to be experiencing some server hangs in relation to chronos and full text indexing.
My question is what is chronos (other than a server task that runs) and if I add the line in the notes.ini to debug_disable_chronos=1, could this be a possible solution to server hangs.
Thank you in advance for your help on this.
