Our Domino server will not start!
Get the first two lines in console and it doesn’t do anything more.
We’ve reinstalled over the top of the server, replaced names.nsf and commented out any of the servertasks in notes.ini
Stuck and need to get service back up, any help will be very much appreicated!

Had the same problem today. It was an issue with Trend Micro Office Scan with an new pattern file. Disable OfficeScan temporarily and roll back to a previous pattern.
That should at least get you back in business.

We use Trend, but ScanMail for Domino, can’t see the entry in Notes.ini - any more clues?
Thanks for replying!!

Disabling OfficeScan worked for us, but you might want to turn off all Trend products temporarily. If that doesn’t do the trick… call Trend or IBM.

Not really, a few temp files at the time the server first crashed which we’ve renamed. There is a notes dump file, but just has initial 2 lines. One did have all the threads and file listings, but nothing I could make anything of…
Any other thoughts?
Thanks for replying!!!

Move log.nsf out of the data directory, or rename it to something other than .nsf
It’s one of the first files Domino tries to write to, so if corrupt it can cause a hang.

It was server protect causing the problem. We’ve disabled the service and all started up ok.
Thanks for all your help!
Now off to Trend Micro to find out why they released something which caused us so much problem!

Subject: Solved - Trendmicro Problem - Server Hang on Start up - URGENT!
Yes, after applying to today’s trendmicro release, it created the problem. Not only in Domino Server, but all the Lotus Notes Client were affected.
We temporary disable “Unload Trendmicro”, then the domino and notes client was back to normal.
Hopefully by tomolo, the new Trendmicro Virus pattern release can resolve the problem.
