"Server Group" v's "Mixed Group" when replicating

I am troubleshooting a replication issue and have pinned the cause down to some unexpected behaviour in how different types of groups seem to be treated in the ACL.

We are replicating another domain’s address book and our server is included in the “Other Domain Servers” group in their address book. This group has Reader access in their replica and the checkbox “Replicate or copy documents” is checked. The group has type “Server Group” which is what you would expect. This should be sufficient for our server to pull updates to our replica of their address book.

When we replicate from our server we get the following message:

Access control is set in TestReplica.nsf to not replicate forms, views or edits from TestReplica.nsf

However, if we change the user type to “Mixed group” we are able to replicate OK.

If we want to keep the user type as “Server group” we have to bump up access to Developer or Manager before we can pull changes to our server.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Thanks

Eoin

Subject: “Server Group” v’s “Mixed Group” when replicating

Hmm, before anyone wastes any time on this I might need to do a bit more research.

The messsage:

"Access control is set in TestReplica.nsf to not replicate forms, views or edits from TestReplica.nsf "

seems to be just telling me that seeing as my server has less than Designer access on the remote replica forms, view etc won’t replicate - fair enough.

There’s something still not right as updates are not being pulled from the remote server but I’ll need poke around a bit more before I post again with a proper description.
