Hi All,
For some reason just recently my domino server console has been displaying the following message:
“Server exiting: Partition D.Lotus.Domino.data is already in use”
Not sure why but it doesn’t record this message in the log file.
I also noticed this message appears after the program document dbcache flush runs every 5 minutes.
The server is not running any domino partitions but do use dir links and two separate data drives for the mail files.
Appreciate any feedback.

Firstly why are you running a DBCache flush every 5 mins?
Description: Closes all databases that are currently open in the database cache. Use this command before maintaining databases to flush databases from the cache.
I would just like to know what advantage this has in your environment.
The error you are getting is likely to be that something out side of the domino server is accessing the databases…and this is locking the Domino server out.
This could be some thing like LEI or a backup solution that is not using a OPEN Domino agent.

Because we have many large mail files and other databases on that server which remain open, the database cache increases. having the dbcache flush command running every so often alleviates the strain on windows page pool.
The total data size is running close to 1 TB. Its ridiculously large. Not long ago I disabled dbcache flush from the program document for one day and the server came to grind and eventually hung.
You could be right as the backup trying to access the databases, as we are not using an Open file domino agent.
