I have 3 computers in the office running either, XP or 2000. We don’t have our own server, they are all stand alones. WE use dial up to access the internet and to log into our home office Domino server for company email. (Dont know waht DOmino version) Up until this morning we didn’t have any probs. Now we all get the server not responding Failes with TISDomino01/Thompson Industrial message. When I called the home office she says the server is up and running fine and it must be our ISP.
I can connect to the internet fine, just not the Domino server. I called EArthlink for help and although they don’t support Lotus they tried to help but couldn’t. The person at the home office has told me she doesn’t know what to do or try or who to go to for help. I can’t find anything on this site to help troubleshoot the problem. Can it be the ISP? Could it be that a setting in the email server and been messed up? if so what can I tell her to look for? She is dead set on the fact that it must be us or the ISP we use. We have been using earthlink for 2 years with no problems.
thanks for any help anyone can give.
pleas email to my yahoo since I can’t get company email.

Subject: server error and can’t get emails! HELP
Hi,
The first think to do is think if you have changed something.
Now. The client try to connect to the server using the server’s IP address.
On your client, open the menu: File - Preferences - User preferences
Then choose: The ports option as in the picture.
Then press on TRACE, then choose your server name and choose TRACE again.
You will get a lot of messages. press the COPY button and paste the response to the forum. Someone will help you.
Now, the response will contain the IP address of your mail server. If you can TELNET “IP ADDRESS” 1352 so you can contact your server. If you can’t the problem is somehow there.
Let’s check the error you receive, then we will be able to discuss it.

Subject: RE: server error and can’t get emails! HELP
I found the TRACE after I posted and tried it. (Before you posted) I got soemthing similar to this"Determining path to server TISDomino01/Thompson Industrial
Available Ports: TCPIP
Checking normal priority connection documents only…
Local network connection document found for TISDomino01
Verifying address ‘216.206.209.51’ for TISDomino01/Thompson Industrial on TCPIP"
and the last line was that it couldn’t connect.
I called the lasy at the home office to verify that was the correct IP address and she said it was.
I also tried the NCONECT program on here to test the port. I could reach it thru FTP on 1352 but not thru any other item listed on the Service List.
My boss tried checking his mail at home using his laptop. Same computer as here but he has cable at home, not dial up. He did fine. So that brought me back to the ISP. I tried a different phone number yesterday and it worked.
I would like to figure this out so I can let EArthlink know. I am afraid that it may happen again (ya never know!) and I wll run out of numbers to dial into after 3 of them. So I only have 1 number left. WE are so remote we can’t have cable or DSL and in too many trees for sattilite. So I am stuck with dialup.
thanks for your help and for coming back so quickly
