I was wondering if anybody has any experience using Citrix for Domino server consolidation. We have 23 servers for 900 users. We are in a mixed environment of R5 and 6.5.1 servers. We have servers in the US, Brazil, UK, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Malysia, and Japan.
The reason why we have so many servers is because of the really poor bandwidth in Brazil/Europe/Asia.
We were wondering if Citrix would help us bring down the number of servers in the domain.
I know Lotus doesn’t “approve” of using Citrix.
I would be interested in knowing of anybody’s experiences with this or of any tips/hints that would make this work.
If you don’t think Citrix would work, is there any other possible solution for us?

We use Citrix for users at sites in the US. And yes, we use it so we aren’t setting up a Notes/file server at each location. We don’t have any problem with Citrix, per se.
But if the problem is bandwidth, I really doubt that Citrix is going to help. I mean, if you’re talking about having them connect to “Centralized” Citrix & Notes servers, wouldn’t they be using the same bandwidth/connections to get to those servers? It isn’t necessarily going to be faster.
Another idea is to use Nfuse or a VPN. Have them connect to the internet, and then to your systems. That would help IF their bandwidth to the internet is better than the bandwidth to your sites.
Otherwise, I’m still thinking bandwidth is the bottleneck, and if you can’t improve the bandwidth, then they are better off working on local servers.
