Serious BCC issue for 6.0.x Notes Client users with newer mail designs

If you use 6.0.3 Notes Client or older, and your mail design is based on a 6.5.4 mail template (for web inotes6.ntf), the BCC entries will show up on MEETING invitations you send to external users.I have not tested this using 6.0.4 or 6.0.5 Notes Clients. Having users upgrade to 6.5.4 Client corrects the problems.

I would image 6.0.5 might not be a problem, since it is mostly in line with 6.5.4, but again I have not tested it. We have been using newer mail designs for some time without any other known issues, although only recently moved to a 6.5.4 design from 6.5.3.

notes is backwards compatible not forwards compatible (is any program?), i wouldn’t expect a 6.0 client to work flawlessly against a 6.5 template, it might work if nothing has changed but as you noticed not everything does.

Hey, I’ve had 6.x clients running with other flavors of 6.x templates since 6 first arrived, and this was without issues. The same when R5 was around.

We always roll out server upgrades prior to clients (which generically will update the default mail templates).

Nothing as strange as this BCC issue has happened ever.

Now there were some quirks with 5 clients against 6 templates, but we’re talking point differences here. Everythings a flavor of 6.x.

In fact, I believe this was not a problem when the templates were based on 6.5.3 design. Just a big difference in 6.5.4 from 6.5.3. I’m certain many other organizations have similar situations with various flavors of clients out there, and the issue should be noted, so that everyone in those circumstances is aware of the situation.

I have verified that there is no problem with the 6.0.5 client using the 6.5.4 mail template. This would make sense since 6.0.5 is mostly the same as the 6.5.4 client.
