Separate mailboxes into different directories

I would like to create a second mail directory and move half my mailboxes to it (ie MAIL and MAIL2). The MAIL2 directory will actually be a new drive (RAID group) but presented to Win2003 using a volume mount point. Does anybody see a problem with that? If it can be done, what is the administrative burden? My reasoning is running a backup against two 500GB LUNs will perform better than a single 1TB LUN.

This shouldn’t be any problem at all. Just use a directory link to get mail2 directory to show under the data directory, then treat it as just another subdirectory. No maintenance whatsoever.
