I am planning to role out a new spoke server to one of our international companies. I need to configure the server here and send out all the relevant files to spain to be put in place and loaded up.
The way I intended to do this was to register the server here, create and extended catalog as we don’t want the user to appear in the main address book but rather have their own and register the users here.
I’ve created the cert id and server id with no problem. I’ve also created the extended catalog and run dircat and that all worked. The problem I am having is when I register users how do I get them to register in the extended catalog as opposed to the main address book?
If anyone could offer any assistance it would be greatly appreciated. Even if I’ve gone about it the wrong way and there is a better way of doing things.
extended DIRCAT is always poppulated from actual addressbooks and you cannot register new users to it. For your scenario, you will have to have an additional addressbook for that Company and register the users there. later poppulate the E-Dircat from that addressbook and replicate / send copy to that org.
a round about way may be :
having all users on the same addressbook and customize the addressbook design to have one extra folder / view, where you will put all users that the other company users can see. then have the adderessbook replicate with formula, where you can mention that none except that particular folder / view will replicate. As you are trying to keep that server in the same domain, this might work out rather than having an additional addressbook and always manning the updates on the remote server.
