Subject: Re: Sent emails auto populating local names.nsf - Recent Contacts

Hi Dean,

I assume that you mean, when you send an e-mail to someone that is not in your address book, your Contacts (Names.nsf/Contacts) is automatically populated with that Address? Additionally, you are probably seeing that the addresses from e-mails you receive are being populated in the Contacts as well.

If my assumptions are correct, then you are seeing the functionality of the “Recent Contacts” feature that was added in R8.0.0. In 8.0.0, Recent Contacts were difficult to delete (as you had to delete a table within the Notes Directory. However, due to request, starting in 8.0.1 and continuing, the Recent Contacts feature has been improved to allow deletions, etc.

For your convenience, I have included several Technotes below that better outline this information. However, in short, if you do not want the functionality of Recent Contacts, in the Standard 8.x Client, you can go to File–>Preferences–>Contacts and enable the Option “Do Not Automatically add names to the Recent Contacts view”.

One thing you want to Note is that The Recent Contacts view is not available in the Lotus Notes Basic Configuration, but the storing of recent contacts does take place and these are available for use in mail addressing. Recent contact information can also be synchronized through the replicator.

Thank you for the reply. Your are correct in your assumptions and I have now hopefully resolved the problem but in the preferences I do not get the options you stated so I used the following in the notes.ini file:DisableDPABProcessing=1
