I have a Notes-client based mail-in database that is also used to send emails out as well. I am receiving some strange behaviour when sending emails to Hotmail.
If I send an email and the only recipient(s) are Hotmail based, their emails will simply disappear into cyberspace and never show up in the Hotmail account.
All other emails to all other domains route perfectly.
If I send an email to a Hotmail addresses and also include an Yahoo address in either the To, CC or BCC fields then all emails including the Hotmail arrive promptly in their respective inboxes.
If I send an email to Hotmail from a standard Notes mail file, it will route through fine.
So basically the only occasion that my mail is not working is when I am sending to Hotmail ONLY from a mail-in database utilising the NotesDocument.Send command.
Anyone have any ideas why only that particular email situation would fail? Even though all the other combinations route through to the same address perfectly fine.
I didn’t find an exact reason why my mails were so inconsistant about getting through to hotmail but I did find a work-around. The issue seemed to relate to hotmail trying to substantiate the sender address and not liking what sending the email through an agent composed.
I set the folowing fields to be my desired “From” and “ReplyTo” email address and all mail now seems to route successfully.
Field List:
Principal
From
ReplyTo

tmpDisplayFrom_Preview

tmpDisplaySentBy
DisplayFrom
$INetFrom
$INetPrincipal
INetFrom
INetPrincipal
SMTPOriginator
olOriginator
SendonBehalfName
I don’t know the exact purpose of all these fields or if they are even nessessary, but by setting them all i was able to get mail routed to hotmail and appear with the correct sender and reply details.
