Sending/Receiving HTML messages composed in Notes

I have a customer who whenever they 1) send an HTML message from their client it shows up as plain text to all receipients and 2) whenever they receive the same message it shows up as HTML, sort of. The message has a logo in it, which they receive at the bottom of the message when it should be at the top and they also do not see the alternating colors of the table rows.

What we are doing is copying a web page (created from a Notes form) and pasting it into an email message. It contains a logo and an embedded view with alternating colors in the rows. When they send it to anyone it is sent as plain text (no links or table formatting). I know it is not a client issue because when I create a location document on my client with their user settings is does the same thing. But if I send through my companies mail server it works fine. I have sent the message to several accounts and they all show up looking like what I want. I checked the location document(s) and it is set to send as MIME.

Conversley, when I send them (the customer with the issues) the message they get some table formatting, the links are there, but the font colors aren’t there, the alternating row colors aren’t there and the graphic appears as an image but at the bottom of the message when it should be at the top.

I’ve compared my company’s settings with theirs (Global Dom, server docs, configuration docs, person docs, location docs, etc) and all looks the same. But I must be missing something…

The only other clue is that my company is using a server that started out as R6. The customer’s server was 4.6 then R5 then R6. Don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not but that is the only difference I can find between the servers.

Thanks for anything that will lead me down the right path

Hi,

Whenever i’ve come across this problem it’s been caused by the setting for “Internet Mail Format” in the “User Preferences” of the client.

Hope this helps

I thought about that. It’s a client setting so I tried to isolate it to the client. But, I can use a location going to my mail server and the MIME works fine, but I can use a location going to the customer’s server and the MIME does not work at all. All from the same client

Well, I have narrowed it down to the Norton Antivirus For Domino Gateways. When I bring down the scanner it gets through beautifully. Now I’m off to Symantec, but if anyone has seen this before…
