I’m attempting to enable Notes 6 users to send mail directly to Outlook 2002 users. I’m aware of the Outlook connector that will enable Outlook users to send mail to Notes users through the Domino server. I want to go the other way and have Notes users send mail directly to the Outlook users. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks

I would recommend for you to stay away from the Outlook connector if you can. Can your server accept SMTP email? You could have Lotus Notes email go to outlook. In this case Lotus Notes would be “relaying” the message to Outlook.
My only question to know if I given you a good recommendation: How does outbound internet mail setup?
Do you have Outlook as the main mail server which gets is email from the internet or is Lotus Notes the main server or is there a SENDMAIL server which is doing that?
The question has many answers, but as always more information in your description will ensure the best answer I (or anyone on notes.net) can give.
HTH Cheers. Email in my profile if you have more questions as well.

I don’t know what you want to achieve.
Outlook is a client software similar to Lotus Notes. To send and receive mail you need to setup Server, either Lotus Domino or Exchange.
OutLook can act as a Notes client provided that you have Lotus Notes client installed on the same machine and Outlook Connector installed and configured properly

Our Notes installation is quite seperate from our Exchange installation. We only use the names.nsf database for the address book. I suppose we could try setting up the notes client with internet mail (SMTP & POP) hopefully resulting in the Notes users being able to access the Global Address List. In answer to your question our internet mail is setup through the exchange server. I don’t have many more details than that. In fact to move forward on my problem I’ll have to enlist the help of my TierII support.
Thanks for your help.

It is just hard to answer or give advice. There are many ways to do this. In fact the Administrator help file will walk through all the type of setup you can have in mail configuration.

Can’t they just let SMTP convert the messages to MIME? That seems to be the standard way to handle such mail. The only real problem you are likely to find is doclinks. (For what it is worth, my company has a product called CoexLinks which you basically drop into your server and it converts doclinks automatically to NDL attachments, thus allowing the Outlook users to continue to participate in workflow applications and such. See http://www.GeniiSoft.com for details on CoexLinks) Besides that, the Domino 6 router and SMTP seem to handle the mail pretty well.
Note: Updated Oct. 14, 2004 to reflect change of name from COEX! Links to CoexLinks

Hi,
I ma new to this forum. And to Lotus Notes.
However I would like to use Domino Notes as the Mail Server and Outlook as the client.
I tried the MS Connector, but it seemed unstable. it crash on me a few times.
Is it true that the connector do not work well with Domino R6?
And I am unable to send S/MIME emails to other Notes users.
How can I send S/MIME emails to other Notes users?
I understand that iNotes allows us to use Outlook as email client too.
But iNotes r6.01 do not support MIME format but native Notes format only.
Is this true?
Will next version of iNotes allow us to send MIME as well as S/MIME emails from Outlook?
Is iNotes better and more stable then connector?
Thank You!
