Selective replication on a button?

We have had a request that our mobile users take out (readonly) subsets of some of our large databases on client visits on their laptops.

I presume this is feasible via selective replication, but what is the best method of idiot-proofing it so that it is easy/intuitive for users to use, AND so they can’t any squirt data corruptions back to the main dbs.

The criterion would be simple, for example: Clientcode = “ABC123”

I can’t see how to do it in Formula language on a button… is there a way?

via script using:

To set: notesReplicationEntry.Formula = formula$

but the user needs to have Manager access to make this change so you’ll want to add a check for level of access the user has before trying to set this. This is especially true if you use Enforce Consistent ACL.

Granting them manager access is a bit risky with some of our users!

Can I grant it in script - do the replication stuff then revoke it?

you can’t chnage the ACL in the script if the user is running the script and does not have Manager access.
