Randomly, the selection margin or gutter reverts to the standard selection margin (blue bar) even though the option to show checkmarks is selected. It was previously reported that this was fixed in 8.5.1, however, I am using 8.5.1 now and it just happened to me. When this happens it impacts deletes, moves, printing, etc.
The client must be restarted in order for it to resolve itself. I have seen other reports on the forums of this behavior as well with no resolution.

I’ve now been able to reproduce this after a shut down of the PC. Starting back up and launching Notes before the hour glass goes away. Cannot reproduce on a restart or log off. Seems to be a hook or something that isn’t ready.

We haven’t reproduced this SJCN7ZDSJN according to the SPR’s description and we can’t obtain enough information from the Forum db.
Therefore, We need more detailed log information.

We suspect that parameters in Notes.ini do affect this behavior. So could you also attach the Notes.ini(…\notes) file for analysis?

Thanks for the additional debugging tools. At this level, we’ll go ahead and open a PMR so we have some better tracking other than the forum. Will do that next week.

Subject: Gutter issues and mis-selected documents
When the gutter disappears do you still have the issue with the incorrect document being selected?? We are upgrading to 8.5.1 and are seeing strange behavior in some clients when selecting documents… Meaning, if we select a document in the inbox to delete and press the delete key, a totally different document gets deleted. The same happens with printing, forwarding, ect… Have you seem similar issues with 8.5.1?

-You mentioned that it was reproducible after Cold boot , then Start Notes when hour glass is still showing. Is it still true?

Looks like many people are having the same issue… IBM is providing us a Fix Pack to correct the issue. From what the development team said, The problem happens at startup where, notes tries to read the Notes.ini setting for the gutter and the client starts up before the preference is read. For anyone using the gutter: This issue happens at startup, you will NOT see the gutter even is you have it selected for use in your preferences. From there you will see very erratic behavior when acting on documents in the inbox/any view(forwarding, putting in folders, deleting, replying.
