Security: Show Images

I have 1 user (my boss) who’s HTML/MIME emails are not functioning right.

Typically, when you open an HTML or MIME email with images, you are preseneted the the message:

“Security: To ensure privcy, images from remote sites were prevented from downloading” Show Images

On her instance of Notes, the images are displayed as a red X, but the security message and show images button are NOT displayed.

–The Show Images option IS available if she right clicks on the document, and it does work.

Is there a setting that will prevent images from being displayed but NOT give you the status bar message?

Obvioulsy not a huge issue since there is a workaround, but I would like to figure this out and get it resolved.

Thanks

Matt

Subject: Solution?

Matt, did you ever find what was causing this? I have a user who is having the same problem. Everything works as it’s suppose to except the Security option to “To ensure privacy, images from remote sites were prevented from downloading. Show Images” when you open the email does not display.

Subject: show images

check File > Preferences > mail > internet tab at the bottom the is “don’t show images without my permission”. perhaps this is set differently for this user than for others.

Subject: Show Images button does not display

We also have this issue with a user. The “Show Images” button simply does not appear in the editor. Any resolution for this?

Subject: Fix to make Show Images button

I found a fix and hope this is useful to others. I asked the user to go to File > Preferences, and go to the Mail option and select “Always how details in received messages.” The user could click on the 3 options indented under Mail (Access and Delegation, Internet, Sending and Receiving). But just clicking on “Mail” gave a prompt that said “In order to edit Mail, Calendar or Todo preferences, clike More >Preferences… on your Action Bar in a Mail or Calendar View.”

This reminded me of some other situations where users had problems because their local names.nsf did not have the proper template applied. To force the proper template, we closed notes and edited the notes.ini to replace the line “TemplateSetup=850101” to just “TemplateSetup=8.” Then when Notes restarted it forced a temlate update on names.nsf.

THEN we could go back into File > Preferences > Mail and select the option “Always how details in received messages.”

And now FINALLY, the “Show Images” button displays in the header.

I would be interested to learn if this fixes the issue for others.
