Searching Problem: The third address book

Dear All,

Since Notes Client will search the NAMES.NSF then our Company address book. Our users want to search Company address book first. We have tried several ways but not success:

  1. Place Company Address Book first, then NAMES.NSF

==> User log-in, current location becomes “none”.

  1. Place NAMES.NSF first, then Company Address Book. Finally add another PERSONAL.NSF. We copy all address in NAMES.NSF to PERSONAL.NSF and then delete all address in NAMES.NSF. System will find a empty NAMES.NSF, then Company Address Book. It works but

==> we can’t see address in PERSONAL.NSF under iNotes.

Any ideas ?

Many Thanks

Create local replicas of all three address books. List them in the UserPreferences in the order you wish them to be searched. That should take care of the problem.

Dear Chirs,

Thanks. But when I do this - Since NAMES.NSF is not the first one. Location becomes “None” !! Then, I can’t send/receive email. When I change it back to NAMES.NSF as the first one. It’s ok again.

Open the Ini file for the client and rename the names=nams.nsf to Names=Personal.nsf or whatever name you have, not space. You can also do this on the server.

Also search for Cascading directory on thsi forun or the admin help db…
