Hi, I am trying to create a search page where users can search for a contact by last name, first name, address, etc using all or only one of the fields. The contacts are all stored in Domino.
I can get the search to work. I think I need to be using GetDocumentByKey, but I can’t seem to get it to work.
I am still new to Domino programming and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Subject: Searching in Domino
The GetDocumentByKey searches throug a view based on a key, which, usually, is composed of the first columns of the view.
Check that the first column of this view is sorted, if not, this method will fail. There is also a second parameter to the function giving you the option to perform an exact match or not.
If you are trying to build a multi-criteria search, with optionnal fields, then you might try to use the FTSearch function. You won’t need to build a view, but you will have to index the database. The FTSearch accepts searches with field names (it’s in the documentation). A syntax like this is understandable for the FTSearch method : [Field1] = “this” or [Field2] contains “alpha”
Good luck!
